Set Free: a Journey Through GalatiansSample

The Blessing of Faith
Paul opens Galatians 3 with a strong rebuke: “Who has bewitched you?” The Galatians had started their journey by faith, but were now being tempted to rely on the Law to grow in righteousness. Paul reminds them that receiving the Spirit came through belief, not works, pointing back to their own experience with the gospel and the power of God at work among them (Galatians 3:2–5).
He then explains that Abraham was counted righteous because of his faith, not his actions (Galatians 3:6). That same faith brings believers into the family of God as spiritual descendants of Abraham. This promise, given long before the Law, shows that God’s plan of salvation has always been rooted in grace. Romans 4:16 confirms this, saying the promise is guaranteed to all of Abraham’s offspring—those who share his faith.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us (Galatians 3:13). Through Him, we receive the blessing of Abraham—the promise of the Spirit—by faith. We are no longer outsiders, but heirs of God's promises. Faith is not just how we begin our walk with God—it is how we continue in freedom, power, and purpose.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that by faith I belong to You and share in the blessings You promised. Keep me from relying on myself and teach me to trust in Your grace every step of the way. Help me live as Your child, walking by faith and not by works. Amen.
