Growing HopeSample

Growing up in the South, I have vivid memories of my father rising early to birdwatch while sipping his morning coffee. He said it helped him set his life in the right direction.
Sowing seeds of quiet can grow something in us that is foundational to hope, spiritual health, and mental health.
Health experts say daily quiet time can lower blood pressure, improve concentration, spark creativity, reduce cortisol, and ease insomnia.
For me, the quiet of morning has always felt like a clean sheet of paper—fresh with possibilities.
Starting the day by observing goldfinches and hummingbirds reminds me of Matthew 6:25: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life … Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.”
If we don’t sow seeds of peace and faith, our anxiety will grow unchecked. Sowing seeds of peace is a free, life-changing gift we can give ourselves each day.
Reflect
- Do you create a quiet space in the morning where seeds of hope and peace can take root?
- How might daily quiet time improve the quality of your spiritual journey toward hope?
