Shut Up And Listen
Reflect:
“Teach me to shut up and listen, surrendering all my ambitions.” This lyric can hit hard, and it’s often so needed. Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is be quiet. Not give God our plans. Not ask Him to bless our agenda. But to just shut up and listen. “In solitude,” writes Henri Nouwen, “I get rid of my scaffolding.” I see the facades and platforms I’ve been leaning on to find my artificial substance of being. In the silence, I hear another voice. God speaks. My faith deepens. It’s here, in surrender, that ambition gives way to obedience.
Pray:
Jesus, I surrender the noise of my thoughts, the pressure of my goals, and the enchantments of my platforms. Teach me how to listen again. Help me hear the whisper beneath the storm. Give me ears to recognize Your voice.

About this Plan

This 5-week devotional is built around the songs of Engedi Music’s album Kid. Each week focuses on a different theme drawn from the lyrics—childlike faith, trusting God’s direction, discovering our true identity in grace, experiencing God’s presence in our mess, and finding His peace in the middle of anxiety. Through Scripture, reflection, and music, you’ll be encouraged to draw near to Jesus with a simple, dependent heart and to encounter Him in fresh ways this summer.
