DAY 8 OF 11

Jesus Gives Regularly

What is your morning routine? Each morning, I drink a pre-workout energy drink containing approximately 300 mg of caffeine. Before you come after me, let’s not start discussing the costs of coffee shop drinks and caffeine amounts. If something happens and I cannot drink my routine drink, I feel very sluggish that day. I need that daily kickstart, and I look forward to it.

Lamentations 3 reminds us that God’s mercies are new every morning. Think about that. Every sunrise is a reminder that God is still giving, still sustaining, still blessing, still faithful. Even on days when life feels heavy or uncertain, his mercies arrive right on time.

Jesus taught his disciples to pray, “Give us today our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11, NIV). That simple prayer acknowledges two things. We depend on God for our needs, and God provides daily. The Israelites experienced this in the wilderness when manna fell from heaven each day (see Exodus 16). They could not store it up for tomorrow. They had to trust God to provide again and again. And he did.

James assures us that every good thing we have is from God, not some gifts. Not occasional gifts. Every good thing we have is a result of his regular generosity. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17, NIV). God is not unpredictable or stingy. He is steady, constant, and generous beyond measure.

Just like I count on that morning drink to give me energy, I can count on God’s mercy, provision, and presence to sustain me every single day. The difference is, his supply never runs out, and his gifts do not come with a caffeine crash.

So today, as you breathe in the morning air, eat your breakfast, or go through your daily routines, let each ordinary moment remind you of an extraordinary truth. God is faithful. His mercies are new. His gifts are steady. And his presence is with you.

Do not just look for him in the highlights. Notice him in the daily bread, the regular mercies, and the simple rhythms of life. That is where his grace meets you, right on time, every morning.

Challenge:

Each morning this week, write down one way God has shown you his regular faithfulness, something simple but meaningful. At the end of the week, look back over your list and thank him for being a God who never fails to give.
