Not Just Right, but Necessary

Having Jesus close to us isn’t just a good idea—it’s essential. His presence is our protection. When we keep Him in our thoughts, we sin less, think more like Him, and become better people. That’s why a personal relationship with Him is so important.

Jesus knew this, and so did the apostles. When Paul was in prison, he endured hardship because he had the presence of Jesus with him. When we focus on Him, life’s suffering becomes more bearable. That doesn’t mean our problems will disappear, but they will lose their power over us.

Keeping Scripture in our hearts helps. Even Jesus, though He was God, quoted Scripture when He was tempted in the desert. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
