3 - LORD'S PRAYER - the Lord´s RequirementsSample

16 – Better Quality
Let me suggest a personal reflection: Do I want to be a precious vessel in God’s hands, or a product of lesser value? My prayer could be: “Father, may Your will be done on earth, in this clay that is me, as it is in heaven.”
The illustration of the potter shaping the clay shows that the success or failure of my formation depends on how I respond to God’s touch. To be molded by Him, my heart must be pliable in His hands—but I know that I am not always willing. To obey means to submit to someone, and I do not always want that.
Because of pride, it is hard to accept a position of submission. Yet obedience is inseparable from love. When I love someone, that person’s will comes first in my life. In such a case, obedience is no longer a sacrifice, but a privilege. I rejoice in obeying the one I love, because I trust that the one who loves me seeks only my good.
So it is with God’s will, which encompasses everything He has planned for my well-being. He cares for me as a Father, and when I fulfill His will, I am doing what is best for myself!
To obey God, then, is to invest in my own life.
As the prophet Isaiah writes:
“Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”
(Isaiah 64:8, NIV)
About this Plan

The well-known Lord's Prayer, taught by Jesus to his disciples, can be divided, for study purposes, into two parts. The first addresses God's demands: his dwelling, his person, his kingdom, and his will. The second half addresses humanity's demands: their needs for bread, forgiveness, and deliverance. Let us, in this context, address the first part of the prayer.
