DAY 1 OF 10

Day 1: Pursuing Truth in a World of Lies:

Welcome to Day 1 of this devotional journey—a journey that begins not with answers, but with a question: What is truth? It’s a question Pilate asked Jesus during His trial, and it still echoes through our hearts today.

In John 18:37-38 (ESV), Jesus tells Pilate, “Then Pilate said to him, ‘So you are a king?’ Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.’ Pilate said to him, ‘What is truth?’”

Pilate had the truth standing right in front of him—but he couldn’t see it. Like many today, he was searching, skeptical, and perhaps too jaded to recognize the answer when it came. Maybe you’ve been there. Maybe you’re there right now. You’ve been burned by religion, disillusioned by people, or disappointed by life—and now you wonder if truth is even possible to find.

But Jesus makes a claim so bold it demands a response. He doesn’t just teach truth or model truth—He is the truth.

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6, ESV).

That’s not a metaphor. It’s a declaration. In a world that says truth is relative and feelings define reality, Jesus says truth is a person. And following Him isn’t about guessing or hoping—you can actually know the truth and be set free by it.

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32, ESV).

But let’s be honest: the truth can be uncomfortable. It can challenge everything you thought you knew. It might confront the way you’ve been living, the beliefs you’ve held onto, or the pain you’ve been avoiding. That’s why so many people reject it. Not because it’s untrue—but because it’s inconvenient.

Still, Jesus doesn't force Himself on anyone. He invites you to listen. He invites you to lean in. He invites you to bring your questions, your doubts, your baggage—and discover that the truth is strong enough to carry it all.

And the truth doesn’t just give us information—it gives us direction. It tells us who God is, who we are, and what life is really all about. When we anchor our lives in the truth of Jesus, we finally find something solid in a world of shifting opinions.

So before you move on with your day, pause and pray:
“Jesus, if You are the truth, help me to hear Your voice above the noise. Help me to see clearly and follow honestly.”

You don’t need all the answers today. But you do need to ask the right questions—and stay long enough to hear the answer. The truth isn’t hidden. He’s here. And He’s calling you to something deeper than opinion, louder than fear, and more real than anything this world can offer.

Let the search begin.
