The Story of GodSample

‘The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.’ Isaiah 9:2 (ESV)
For people experiencing physical and mental pain and who were in spiritual darkness, Jesus really was the best news ever. Harassed and misunderstood by the people who were entrusted to shepherd them, and oppressed by a foreign empire, they desperately needed to be freed in every sense of the word. As it says in Ezekiel 34:1-2 (ESV), ‘The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy, and say to them, even to the shepherds, Thus says the Lord God: Ah, shepherds of Israel who have been feeding yourselves! Should not shepherds feed the sheep?’ Jesus, however, is the good shepherd of the sheep who says: “I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord God. I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them in justice" Ezekiel 34:15-16 (ESV).
Action Point:
Rest in the knowledge today and always that Jesus is your good shepherd who will never let you down.
