Transformed by His PromisesSample

CLOTHE YOURSELF IN THE LIGHT OF GOD’S TRUTH
Romans 13:12 (NLT): "The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes and put on the shining armor of right living."
Mindful Minute: If we desire something new, we are reminded how important it is to start living right and remove those things done in the darkness.
The metaphor is perfect as we consider how it feels to remove dirty clothes from our bodies. Removing bad habits makes us feel clean and new. This is where transformation begins!
When we can reflect upon our life-interfering behavior with a clear mind, we start to understand the deception behind our relationship with it. Compare it to the deception that took place in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. Do we ultimately find the relaxation or connection that we truly desire when we engage, or does engaging give us regret the next day? Does engaging decrease our anxiety as we had anticipated, or did it increase because of the guilt and shame it created?
If we are honest with ourselves, this behavior is stealing precious time to truly connect with others, to address life’s problems in a healthy manner, and to live the life God intended for us.
Prayer: Father, I am keenly aware of your ultimate plan to defeat the evil one. I desire to be in your love with the light of the Holy Spirit so others may see and follow suit. I want to rid my body of these dirty clothes. I want to be unencumbered by the psychological slavery of this habit. I so very much desire the shining armor of right living for all to see. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
