WALK SECURELY IN GOD’S PROMISES WITH INTEGRITY
Proverbs 10:9 (NLT): "People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed."
Mindful Minute: We are doing this challenge because somewhere along the way, we lost integrity with ourselves.
We told ourselves, and most likely God, how we wanted to stop something we knew was bad for us. We most likely knew there was a better life God saw for us without engaging in it. We promised ourselves over and over again, “This is the day I succeed.” With each failed attempt came a loss of integrity in our word. Every time we promised ourselves something we could not deliver, there came an ever-so-small but noticeable impact on our self-esteem. It may not be so noticeable to the outside world, but it is something very evident to us and our loving Father.
The definition of the word “integrity,” according to the Oxford dictionary, is “the state of being whole and undivided.” Let us be whole and undivided as we fix our eyes on what lies ahead in place of the temptation we may feel today. The instruction in Proverbs 10:9 (NLT) is so simple, yet many times it is admittedly much more difficult to accomplish. While there will be challenges, we are always capable of a mindset change when confronted with temptation. Each time distraction and temptation come knocking on our door, the opportunity for God’s promise of something brighter in twelve weeks needs to enter our conscious thought.
Right now, the only goal is 30 days to give us the opportunity to see through a new set of eyes the promises God has made to us when released from this psychological slavery.
Prayer: Thank you, Father, for this simple instruction today. I want to have integrity with myself and with you over these 30 days because I trust in your promises to see the person I am fully capable of being without the psychological slavery of this habit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
