Running Life's Race on God's TeamSample

Choosing Your Team
Over the last few days, we have discovered what running life’s race looks like on God’s race team. Our ultimate victory comes once we breathe our last breath and enter into heaven. The world offers many different ways we can run our race, many different “teams” that will try to get us there. For example, there’s the “be a good person” team. They say that if you try your best to be a good person, help others, and do what is right, you will win the race. However, we are not capable of winning the race by being a good person. We have all sinned, and no sin is allowed to enter into heaven (Romans 3:23). Another team is the “fame and fortune” team. This team says that you have made it if you have lots of social media followers, likes, and influencer deals. If you are popular and a lot of people see and like your content, then you are successful. However, Jesus says that the true way to heaven is not popular, and few find it. Popularity doesn’t give you eternal life (Matthew 7:14). A third team that the world offers is the “money and power” team. If you make enough money and climb the power ladder high enough, you will win in life. But Jesus says that we should store our treasures in heaven and not build up earthly ones (Matthew 6:20).
These worldly teams give great offers, promising happiness, fulfillment, purpose, and more, but in the end, these are empty promises. As we read earlier in this plan, Jesus is the one who truly came to give us abundant life (John 10:10). His team is the only one worth choosing for true victory. Unfortunately, most people do not choose God’s team, but he offers it to everyone. Today, he is offering it to you. Will you accept God’s offer to run life’s race on his team? When you do, he saves you from your sin, gives you a new heart, empowers you with his Holy Spirit, and eternal life is yours. He gives you the opportunity to choose which team to race with, and because Jesus has already won victory over sin and death, he has a precedent of victory, while these other teams are still searching for their first wins. Running life’s race on God’s team is not easy, but if you run with him faithfully, you will be victorious. Will you choose God’s winning team?
About this Plan

Racing and following Jesus have many parallels. In the end, both lead to victory! This plan explores living a victorious life in Christ by comparing how he works in our lives with a motorsport team. This plan is a great way to explain what it means to follow Jesus and his life-changing work to a race fan. We were not meant to run this race of life on our own. Running life's race on God's team can lead us to victory through Christ!
