Nourishment from Heaven's Hand
Whatever you’re feeling in this season, there is truth in God’s Word that speaks directly to it. For the spiritual war around us, this must be the foundation we stand on rather than what our fleeting emotions tell us. Feelings are real, but they aren’t always reflective of what’s true.
So when life feels overwhelming and your heart is heavy, open your Bible. Let God’s promises anchor you, reminding you that no matter how you feel, His truth is unwavering.
I remind my children often that “this too shall pass.” I can’t tell you how many times my kids have said, “This is the best day ever! I love my life!” and then not ten minutes later, “My life sucks, no one likes me. This is the worst day of my life.”
I think of Elijah when he said, “It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life” (1 Kings 19:4). Exhausted and overwhelmed, he fled into the wilderness and prayed to die. Elijah was done. But God didn’t rebuke him. Instead, He sent an angel to provide food and rest to strengthen Elijah for the journey ahead.
How many times have we felt like enough is enough? When the pains of life keep piling up, you’re already living paycheck to paycheck, and your alternator goes out, or one of your kids needs surgery, or your dog gets sick, and amid all this you find out your spouse has been lying to you. You feel undone.
Elijah, like so many of us, felt like he couldn’t take another step. But in that moment of deep despair, God sent an angel who gave him two things: a nap and a snack. There’s something beautifully basic in that. Sometimes, when life gets too heavy and we’re on the verge of breaking, all we need is a little rest and nourishment. That’s exactly what God provided for Elijah. He allowed him to sleep, then woke him up to a meal. Elijah didn’t even realize it, but that simple act of kindness was preparing him for the next part of his journey.
Likewise, the Lord sees the journey He calls you to, and He knows you need to be well nourished for the battles ahead.
Dear Lord, thank You for your Word that provides nourishment to my soul for the journey ahead. You are merciful and gracious. Help me to look to you when my flesh and my heart fail. For you sustain me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

As Christians, we are in a spiritual war, but we don’t fight alone. We have a Savior who has already secured the victory and who offers us life—full, abundant, and eternal. As we navigate the battles of this fallen world, including the wounds we suffer, we can cling to the hope that the war has already been won. So let’s armor up and stand firm!
