Jairus’ Daughter Raised from the Dead

Have you ever been flustered by God’s delayed responses to your prayers? That’s how Jairus must have felt when Jesus stopped on the way to his home to heal the woman with the issue of blood. Imagine how frustrating it must have been to see Jesus dilly-dallying by checking who in the crowd had touched him. Jairus must have wanted to scream and ask whoever it was to quickly announce themselves so that they could keep heading in the direction of his house, where his child lay dead. The delay did cost his child’s life, but little did he know that this was a divine setup for a life-altering testimony.

The seemingly endless wait for that one prayer you pray, or that delay in your promotion at work, none of it is useless! God is always at work. He is joining the dots all around you and through you. He is making a way where there seems to be no way by creating pathways in the wilderness and making things happen beyond your realm of imagination and control.

If we learn anything from this story it’s that when Jesus is with us on the journey of life we can trust Him with the unexpected and even tragic situations that could completely blind side us. He is not surprised by those events; in fact, He is more in charge than ever.

Irrespective of the noisy voices that could be screaming in your ears, His would be the voice that says “Don’t be afraid, just believe”. It’s our choice whether we choose to quieten ourselves and get alone with Him in order to hear His whisper amidst the chaos.

Delays are not disappointing when you trust an on-time God. Delays can be divine moments of sustained encounter with God.
