30 Famous Bible Verses Explained

DAY 3 OF 30

Bible Verse 3
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. Psalm 23:1 NIV

Why Is This Verse Famous?
This verse provides us comfort and assurance that the Lord is our shepherd who guides us, protects us, and is with us.

A Short Explanation of the Verse
This verse comes from the Book of Psalms, an ancient collection of songs and poems written by a variety of authors. This verse (and the whole psalm) is popular because of how it has comforted people for thousands of years.

We live in a dark and scary world, but the Lord wants to shepherd you.

Let’s look at this verse. The first part says,“The Lord is my shepherd …” Psalm 23:1 NIV

What is a shepherd? A shepherd cares for the sheep, guides them, stays with them, and protects them. Jesus is our shepherd. He wants to walk with you daily, guiding you and protecting you.

With the Lord as your shepherd, you lack nothing. You have all that you need. You shall not want. You can rest with peace knowing that you have everything you really need.

What Could This Verse Mean for You?
No matter your current circumstances, regardless of how dark life may feel, you can find hope in God’s care.
