Jesus Is…His Character RevealedSample

Day 4 - Jesus is…Righteous.
Matthew 4:1-11 and Psalm 22:30-31 (ESV)
Devotional: Jesus was fully man and fully God and remained completely righteous. In Matthew 4, this is displayed when Jesus is tested by the devil in the wilderness. After fasting for a full forty days and nights, Jesus was hungry and physically weak. It was then that Satan came to tempt Jesus.
The devil said, "If you are the Son of God, turn these stones to bread." But Jesus declined by using scripture which says, "Man shall not live by bread alone." Shortly after, Satan tried to tempt Him to jump off the temple, saying the angels would protect Him. Again, Jesus resisted and Satan failed. Jesus responded with scripture, "You shall not put the Lord your God to the test." Finally, the devil offered Him all the kingdoms of the world if He would bow down and worship him. Jesus refused, proclaiming, "You shall worship the Lord your God and Him only shall you serve." Even in physical weakness, Jesus remained strong. He stood firm, never giving in to the devil’s attempts to lure Him away. In Psalm 22:30-31 (ESV), we see that His righteousness is to be praised! He has and always will be righteous. Jesus was tempted in every way, yet He remained sinless, showing us that He is the only one truly righteous and worthy to be our Savior.
Prayer: Jesus, You are the only One truly righteous. Thank you for sacrificing Yourself for us. You are the only One who could. You are truly to be praised!
