A Life AblazeSample

Day 7: Ablaze With Holiness
We’ve already discussed how, if you want the fire of God, you need the Holy Spirit to be active in your life, but for that, you need to make yourself into a place where He is welcome. You see, He is holy, so He always feels most comfortable in places where there is holiness. Therefore, to make ourselves a place where He is welcome and comfortable, we have to understand what it means to be holy.
All throughout the Bible, the original words for “holy” mean separated, consecrated, sacred, or set apart. Something that is holy is set apart from other things so that it can never again be regarded or used in a common way. For example, consider the Holy Bible. The word “Bible” comes from the Greek word that simply refers to a book, but the Holy Bible is not an ordinary book. A library can be filled with thousands upon thousands of books, but there is only one Holy Book — the Bible.
Translators attached the word “Holy” to the book’s title to make the point that the Bible is in a category of its own. It is separate from all other books, distinct, consecrated, and sacred. There is not, nor will there ever be, another book like the Holy Bible.
This is a powerful word, and we see that it is meant to apply to us as well. In 1 Corinthians 6:11 KJV, Paul says, “...but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
When we repent and make Jesus Lord and Savior of our life, the divine presence changes our status. We may look like normal human beings, but because of the fire of God within us, we are not normal anymore. We have been set apart and placed into a completely different category. When the blood of Jesus touched us, we were washed, and the Holy Spirit came into us to abide.
When we fail to understand what it means to be holy, we don’t give the proper weight to it, and we allow sin to enter. When we are aware, however, we cannot tolerate sin in our lives. When we live like we are set apart, the activity of the Holy Spirit becomes abundant in our lives, and it sets our hearts aflame. The fire of God will burn in us like an inferno for years and years to come.
For Your Consideration:
- In what ways have you separated yourself unto holiness since you came to Christ?
- Are there actions you can take today that will give God greater opportunity to help you manage your body and your life?
