Connect With God Through Solitude | 7-Day Devotional

DAY 4 OF 7

Purity is Born in Private

In the book of Matthew, Jesus teaches us how to pray. However, before He gets to the details of the prayer, He tells us to pray in private. This was in contrast to the Pharisees and religious leaders of the time, who were more interested in praying in public than actually communing with God behind closed doors.

There is something so pure about connecting with God in Solitude, where there is no reward in it from man. No one is there to hear how well you pray or to appreciate the great wisdom God gives you. No one can see if you dance before the Lord to praise Him or get on your knees to repent.

One way to keep our hearts pure before the Lord is to draw near to Him in private. Allow Him to speak into any area where there is a need for repentance. Draw near to His presence and let the fire of His glory burn off anything impure in you.

Prayer

Father, as I come alone to Your Presence, search my heart and find any area in my life that offends You. Consume everything in me that does not glorify You. Amen.

Application

  • Find a place to get on your knees before the Lord, just you and Him.
  • Ask the Lord to reveal any areas where you need to repent. Repent. Then thank Him for forgiving you.

About this Plan

Connect With God Through Solitude | 7-Day Devotional

There is only one way to God, and it's through Jesus. But in Jesus, there are many ways to connect with God. One way is through Solitude. Connecting with God through Solitude is when you desire to give God all of your attention and affection by being alone with Him. You can be intimate and vulnerable with the Lord when it’s just you and Him in the room. Through this 7-Day devotional, our goal is that you would walk away equipped to connect with God in this way!
