Unleash

DAY 5 OF 5

David was not who you’d expect to be the hero in this story. He wasn’t a soldier; he was a shepherd. He wasn’t an adult; he was a child. He didn’t have a sword; he had a sling. But God used him. God had been preparing him. God had placed potential and experience within David that He was waiting to unleash. He taught him to fight as a shepherd against the lion and the bear. He taught him how to honor God through his time in prayer. He taught him to protect during his time as a shepherd. God deposited potential and preparation in David, and then God unleashed him.

What do you do if you feel like you have no potential? Or that God is not preparing you for anything? David may have felt this way. He was the youngest in his family, alone in the fields, tending sheep day after day. Although to David it might not have seemed like it, God was preparing him. So, although it might not seem like it, God is preparing you. God has placed potential in you. God cares for you. What has God placed in you that He wants to unleash through you? Is it an experience? Is it a talent or an ability? Is it a passion? As we see in David’s life, God prepares us and places potential in us that drives us to do what He has called us to. So ask God what He has placed in you. Ask Him what He is using to prepare you. Look back on your life and see what God has already used to prepare you for where you are now. Look at where He has you now and dream about where He is leading you to.
