The book of Lamentations has some serious “bad news” and some surprising “good news.” The bad news is that the destruction of Jerusalem was necessary because of Israel’s disobedience. It broke faith with their covenant with YHWH. The good news is that God promises to restore his people. His commitment is, thankfully, based on his character and not their behavior.
