Resurrection to Mission: Living the Ancient FaithSample

Day 5: Resurrection: The Victory
The Resurrection is the cornerstone of our faith. Without it, there is no Christianity. The angel’s proclamation at the tomb, “He is not here, but is risen!” (Luke 24:5-6 NKJV) marks the turning point of history. Death is conquered. Fear is shattered. But the Resurrection is not the end, it is the dawn of a new creation.
“Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life.” (1 Corinthians 15:20 NKJV)
St. John Chrysostom thunders in his Paschal Homily: “Christ is risen, and not one dead remains in the tomb!”
In the Coptic Orthodox tradition, we greet one another with “Christ is risen!” - not as a seasonal phrase but as our identity. This proclamation declares that no darkness, not even death, has the final word. The martyrs of Libya embodied this truth. They smiled in the face of death because they knew Christ had already triumphed.
The Resurrection’s Invitation: it calls us to live fearlessly, shedding the old life and embracing the new (Ephesians 4:22). We are not mere spectators of a historical event but witnesses to a living reality.
Reflection: Are we living as Resurrection people? What does it mean for you to live as a Resurrection person? Does Christ’s victory shape how we face challenges, forgive enemies, or serve others? How can you let Christ’s victory shape your daily life? The Resurrection is not a yearly celebration but the daily foundation of our mission, hope, and joy.
Today’s Challenge: Share the message of Christ’s victory with someone who needs hope today…whether through a conversation, a text, or an encouraging note.
Prayer: Victorious Lord, thank You for trampling down death by death. Let the truth of Your Resurrection fill me with hope and courage, so that I may live as one raised to new life in You and share Your life with others. Amen.
