Timeless KingdomSample

Sometimes, when a person steps into the kingdom of God, the Lord sets them on a path they would never have expected. Take Peter, for example. He knew fishing; it was his livelihood. He knew the Sea of Galilee from shoreline to shoreline. He could tell you the best times and places to find fish. Fishing was part of his identity. Then, one day, Jesus showed up and made it so much more than that. He asked Peter if He could borrow His boat, and of course, Peter obliged. Next, Jesus told Peter to push back out into the deep water and cast his nets again for a catch. Again, Peter obliged, and it was the biggest catch he’d ever seen! Finally, Jesus told Peter to leave it all behind and follow Him. And once again, Peter obliged.
Fast-forward several years, and Peter became an apostle and a leader in the early church. He penned two letters that ended up in the New Testament, and he is the primary source for the gospel we know today as Mark. Peter’s life was utterly transformed, and he became just what Jesus called him to be: a fisher of people! All told, Peter has influenced billions upon billions of people down through the centuries, and there’s no end in sight.
That’s the power of Jesus in your life! In His kingdom, we don’t necessarily need to make big plans; we only need to say yes when Jesus comes calling.

About this Plan

When something is described as timeless, it’s something that remains relevant regardless of when it came to be. It has staying power and a lasting impact. We long for something timeless. But what if that desire in our hearts is pointing to something more profound? In this devotional, we’ll look at how the longing in our hearts for something good that lasts is an echo of the God we are longing for in this life.
