Timeless KingdomSample

If you want to fix cars, you have to learn your way around an engine. If you’re going to prepare a gourmet meal, you need to know some basic cooking skills. Think of a career, and most likely you’ll also think of the training required to pursue that path, whether that’s college, trade school, or an apprenticeship. That’s just how we feel: first comes the equipping, then comes the job. But it’s not always this way in God’s kingdom. Oftentimes, God chooses those who are willing to serve, not necessarily those who are qualified for the task.
Isaiah, by his admission, was “a man of unclean lips” (Isaiah 6:5). Standing before the Lord, he knew that praise from his lips would be unworthy because he was a sinner. And yet, when God was looking for someone to send to His people to warn them about what was to come, Isaiah stepped up. He understood that God doesn’t require perfection before He enlists a person for service in His kingdom. He recognized that God could equip him for the task after he took the job. Don’t fall for the lie that ministry is for the professionals—the pastors, the missionaries, and those in full-time Christian ministry. A seminary degree is not required to be used powerfully in the kingdom of God.
God calls you to be who you are, just as you are. Your willingness is all God requires!

About this Plan

When something is described as timeless, it’s something that remains relevant regardless of when it came to be. It has staying power and a lasting impact. We long for something timeless. But what if that desire in our hearts is pointing to something more profound? In this devotional, we’ll look at how the longing in our hearts for something good that lasts is an echo of the God we are longing for in this life.
