A Vessel Prepared for God's Use: Be FilledSample

CHOOSE YOUR FOUNTAIN
Have you ever stood in front of a soda machine, unsure of which beverage to choose? Or have you looked at a menu and found it difficult to decide what you want to eat? Every day, we face important choices regarding what will nourish us. Some choices may lead to overindulgence, while others can lead to positive transformation.
In Ephesians 5:18, Paul warns against excessive drinking, but his message goes beyond that. He addresses our human tendency to seek fulfillment through worldly means—those temporary highs, desires, and addictions that promise satisfaction but ultimately leave us feeling empty.
Wine here represents anything that intoxicates our flesh: the pursuit of wealth, the addiction to pleasure, the intoxication of power, and the drunkenness of approval from others and comparison. These worldly intoxicants demand more and more to produce the same effect, creating a cycle of dependency that ultimately leads to overindulgence—a scattering, a waste, a life that loses its focus and purpose, a life spent constantly chasing a mirage of satisfaction.
I've learned that our spiritual vessels can never be satisfied by carnal means. The space in our hearts that longs for eternity can only be filled by eternal things. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is the only way to experience true fullness. Therefore, we must be intentional about where we place our vessels—not just what we consume, but who we surround ourselves with. The community we connect with becomes a fountain that fills us. When we intentionally connect with those filled with God's Spirit, we position our vessels beneath fountains of encouragement, accountability, and spiritual growth.
