What Is My Calling?Sample

Live worthy of the call you received from God
“I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” (Ephesians 4:1, NIV)
A way of life worthy of our calling ... what does this mean? This Bible verse encourages us to lead a life that is fitting within the Kingdom of God. We should reflect His character in our actions. In Colossians 1:9-10 (ESV) this is elaborated a little more: “… that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” So, the understanding of God's will should lead to practical wisdom and right moral choices. Then our attitude in life will fit our identity as children of God and our future in His Kingdom.
In Ephesians 5:8-9 (ESV), the same call is expressed more poetically: “At one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true).”
This last quote nicely demonstrates the different facets of living with God: Once we respond to His call, our lives are radically transformed from darkness to light; the Holy Spirit renews our hearts and will; and we try our best to live accordingly. How do you see these facets reflected in your own life?
