Keys to Revival

DAY 5 OF 5

Who Will Go? (Key of Humility and Surrender)

In Isaiah 6:5 (NIV), the prophet sees the Lord in His glory and cries out in brokenness: “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” God touches him with cleansing fire (Isaiah 6:6-7, NIV) and calls, “Whom shall I send?” Isaiah’s response is immediate and total: “Here am I. Send me! (Isaiah 6:8, NIV) Surrender became the launchpad for Isaiah’s prophetic ministry.

The same posture marked the life of Festo Kivengere. During Idi Amin’s brutal rule in 1970s Uganda, Bishop Festo Kivengere stood firm as Christians were tortured and killed. When his friend Janani Luwum was murdered, Kivengere faced a choice: stay silent or speak up. He chose surrender. Yielding fully to Christ, he preached forgiveness—even for Amin and his soldiers—saying, “I can never hate a man when I am praying for him.” Forced into exile with nothing but his Bible, Kivengere continued to proclaim God’s love, and countless lives were changed through his bold, grace-filled witness.

Surrender isn’t about comfort; it’s about obedience. It starts with walking in humility and laying down our rights, fears, and plans to say, “Here I am, Lord. Use me.” Humility is a choice: to thank God often, to keep a short learning curve with sin, to disregard status, to take godly counsel, and to learn to laugh at yourself—refusing pride the mainstage!

What is God asking you to yield today? Will you surrender fear, pride, and control, and say yes to God’s call?

Prayer: Lord, I lay down my fears and plans at Your feet. Bend my heart. Strip away pride and make me a vessel You can use. Let revival begin in my humility and flow outward for Your glory. Teach me to surrender fully, to say “Here I am,” even when it costs me. Amen.
