Mom Friends & Messy Moments: Building Community Through Motherhood Challenges

DAY 2 OF 5

Day 2: The Gift of Being Seen
Scripture:
“You are the God who sees me.” – Genesis 16:13 (NIV)

Reflection:
One of the hardest parts of motherhood is feeling invisible. You pour out every day—serving meals, wiping tears, managing chaos—but who really sees you? It’s easy to think, “Does anyone notice the effort I’m putting in?”

In friendship, too, being unseen stings. Maybe your texts go unanswered. Maybe you show up for others, but no one checks on you. It can feel like you're constantly reaching, never receiving.

But before you seek to be seen by others, know this: God sees you. Like Hagar in the wilderness, who felt abandoned and forgotten, you are fully known by a God who never overlooks your pain, your efforts, or your longing for connection. He sees the parts no one claps for—and He cares deeply.

Being seen by God reminds us that we’re never truly alone. And it prepares our hearts to give and receive friendship with compassion and grace.

Prayer:
God, thank You for seeing me when I feel invisible. Remind me that I am never alone in this season. Help me to value my own presence the way You do, and send people into my life who will reflect that same love and awareness. And when I meet others who feel unseen, help me see them through Your eyes.

Journal Prompt:
When was the last time you felt truly “seen” by someone? How did it impact you? How can you be that kind of friend for someone else this week?
