Day 3: God Specializes in Desert Breakthroughs

I used to believe that truly following God meant a smooth path. I couldn’t have been more mistaken. Some of my most transformative seasons unfolded in what felt like deserts, those times when nothing worked, and the way forward was unclear.

When COVID-19 struck in 2020, ministry felt like a wasteland. Overnight, churches closed, fear gripped people, and traditional methods became obsolete. Instead of dwelling on what was lost, I joined many pastors in asking, “God, what new thing are You doing in this desert?” Through online platforms, drive-in services, and creative digital engagement, my church in Central Texas reached more people during the pandemic than ever before. That desert season birthed unprecedented ministry impact.

Here’s the lesson: God never wastes wilderness seasons. He uses them to spark something new that couldn’t emerge in our comfort zones. God’s creativity is limitless—when our ministry methods feel stuck, He’s already carving new streams of effectiveness. The wilderness isn’t always about judgment; often, it’s preparation for something extraordinary.
