Essential and UnshakableSample

The Servant with No Name
Did you ever notice that the servant Abraham entrusted with choosing a wife for Isaac is never named?
He understood his role to serve Abraham, even in prayer.
He prayed for God to bless Abraham, with a specific request that asks for a specific response.
Then he prayed, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today. Show your kindness to Abraham. Here I am standing by the spring, and the girls of the city are coming out to draw water. I will ask a girl, ‘May I please have a drink from your jar?’ If she answers, ‘Have a drink, and I’ll also water your camels,’ let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. This way I’ll know that you’ve shown your kindness to my master.” – Genesis 24:12-15 GW
We can learn much from this servant — his prayer, his deep faith, his love for the one he served.
He is a model for anyone who feels their work goes unnoticed.
Don’t be discouraged — your insight and expertise are critical and valuable — to your organization, leadership, staff, and the people you serve.
Ask yourself:
Jesus, am I doing what I’m supposed to be doing?
Does my work make a Kingdom difference?
For reflection:
The man knelt, bowing to the LORD with his face touching the ground. He said, “Praise the LORD, the God of my master Abraham. The LORD hasn’t failed to be kind and faithful to my master. The LORD has led me on this trip to the home of my master’s relatives.” – Genesis 24:26-27 GW
Lord, today I pray for the business leaders who intercede for success on behalf of the people they serve. Make them successful and show them how they are vessels of your unfailing love. Amen!
