5-Day Devotional for Moms: Grace in Your GapsSample

Tending to You, Too
Verse:
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” —Matthew 22:39b (NKJV)
Devotional:
Somewhere in the trenches of motherhood, I believed the lie that caring for myself was selfish. I thought good moms were the ones who gave everything. But slowly, I learned that caring for myself wasn’t indulgent—it was obedient.
Jesus said to love others as we love ourselves. He never asked us to neglect our needs in the name of sacrifice. Mothering from a place of depletion doesn’t honor God or our families. Tending to your own health, soul, and rest is part of stewarding what He’s given you.
You matter. Your well-being matters. Rest is not a luxury; it’s a necessity.
Prayer:
Jesus, help me to receive Your permission to care for myself. Show me how to honor You as I honor my own needs.
Reflection Questions:
- Where have you been running on empty?
- What boundary or habit might help you refill?
- How might taking care of yourself reflect God’s love to your family?

About this Plan

This 5-day devotional is for the mom doing her best—and still feeling like it’s not enough. The one buried in laundry, overwhelmed with appointments, and wondering if her unseen efforts matter. If that’s you, take a breath. Grace in Your Gaps by Lisa Schwarz was born from her experience as a stay-at-home mom of six—navigating chaos and learning that God doesn’t wait for us to have it all together. He meets us in the middle. These short devotions remind you: your gaps aren’t failures—they’re invitations for grace. Pause. Breathe. Let God meet you there.
