Hope When It’s Heavy: Trusting God Is Good When Your Season Is NotSample

Hope When It’s Heavy: Trusting God Is Good When Your Season Is Not

DAY 4 OF 7

Even Though There Are No Answers... I Will Bring My Questions

Many of life’s most challenging questions don’t come with tidy answers. Why is one person healed while another keeps suffering? Why do my prayers seem to go unanswered? Where are You, God?

I’ve encountered people who made me feel like it was wrong to admit doubt or ask hard questions in the middle of something heavy. But how can we grow in our understanding of God if we’re afraid to be honest with Him? Scripture shows us a different way. In His kindness, God gave us example after example—David, Job, Habakkuk, and so many others—of people who brought their raw, unfiltered questions to Him. And He didn’t turn them away. He welcomed them.

You don’t have to edit your emotions before you come to God. You can bring your anger, your confusion, and your doubt. He is the safest place to wrestle and the surest place to rest.

So if it feels heavy again, maybe it's time to return—to lay it down, and make the exchange He offers in Matthew 11:28-30. Bring your burdens to Him. Even if fear lingers as you surrender control, you can still choose to receive His rest in faith. He’ll meet you there—every time.

“It is absolutely normal and OK to both have faith and feel fear and confusion as you face the unknown. I can believe God is good and able to bring a miracle while acknowledging the sadness and fear I’m feeling. Grief and joy can be held in the same embrace, just like faith and fear...We can feel all those things while still choosing to look to and cling to hope for the good and miraculous.” (Hope When It’s Heavy, p 56)

Prayer:
God, You see the questions that sometimes feel all tangled up within my heart. I bring them to You now, and though I long for answers, I need Your presence more than I need certainty. Thank You for holding space for my doubts. May I learn to keep my eyes upon You, bring my cares to You, and receive Your rest. I have seen Your faithfulness, and I know I can trust You here, again. Amen.

About this Plan

Hope When It’s Heavy: Trusting God Is Good When Your Season Is Not

Hope When It’s Heavy is a 7-day devotional for anyone navigating grief, anxiety, or a season that feels too heavy to bear. If you’re unsure how to trust God right now, this plan offers honest reflection, scripture, and prayer to help you process your pain and meet with the God who sees, stays, and speaks peace. You're invited to ask hard questions and rest in the truth that God’s goodness doesn’t shift with your circumstances. Even amid the chaos, He remains steady. And even here, hope is still within reach.
