The Thief of EverythingSample

In some ways, we all want to be accepted by others, don’t we? When we don’t feel welcomed by our friends, family members, coworkers, or even the people around us at church, we don’t wonder what it says about them. Instead, we wonder what it says about us. We get caught up wondering why, in their eyes, we don’t seem to compare. In other words, we begin to believe we’re not enough. If we stay in that thought pattern, we’ll never get off the mental merry-go-round that is comparison. However, if we choose to carve a different path for our thoughts, we can begin to take steps toward seeing ourselves through the lens of truth, regardless of how others perceive us. That different thought pattern can start in Scripture!
As we re-examine Paul’s letter to the Romans, we discover an essential truth that anchors our thoughts: God accepts us exactly as we are. God isn’t asking us to be anyone other than who we are to find acceptance in His family. In his eyes, we’ll always be enough. So, the next time you struggle with feeling like you aren’t enough to be accepted by others, ask God to help guide you toward a new thought pattern that reminds you of the eternal, everlasting acceptance you have with Him.

About this Plan

It’s easy to get caught up in comparison. We compare our thoughts, words, actions, relationships, and even our faith. Chances are, if we’re honest, we’d admit that comparison makes us feel a lot worse. It has the potential to steal our joy, self-image, peace, success, and faith. That’s because comparison is a thief. As we’ll see in this series, we’ll look at the secret to breaking the cycle of comparison.
