The Lord’s Prayer

DAY 3 OF 5

Seek God’s Plans Above Your Own

When Jesus taught us to pray, He invited us to surrender with the words, “Your will be done.” That short phrase carries a powerful truth: life is not about building our own kingdom, but aligning our lives with God’s greater purpose. His plans are always good, even when they don’t match what we had in mind.

Too often, we chase after success, approval, or comfort—believing those things will fulfill us. But God calls us to something deeper. He knows exactly what we need, and He’s not withholding anything. Instead, He invites us to trust that His way leads to true life.

Surrendering our plans to God doesn’t mean giving up—it means gaining peace. When we place our relationships, decisions, and dreams into His hands, we’re saying, “God, I trust You more than I trust myself.” That’s not weakness; that’s real worship.

Respond to God’s Word:
Think about one area of your life where you’ve been holding on tightly—maybe out of fear, control, or ambition. Today, release it to God. Pray from the heart: “Lord, Your kingdom come in this area. I want Your best, not just my plan.” His will always lead to what’s truly good.

About this Plan

The Lord’s Prayer

Sometimes we don’t think we can learn anything else from something in particular because we’re so familiar with it. The disciples of Jesus were familiar with prayer. They must have heard countless people pray in their life. But when they saw Jesus praying, they were teachable enough to ask him, “Lord, teach us to pray.” Sometimes thinking you have it all figured out will keep you from truly figuring it out. Step into this prayer with a receptive heart and see how God brings you to a fuller understanding of His teaching.
