The Lord’s PrayerSample

Honoring His Name
When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He began with a powerful reminder: approach God as Father, and honor His name. To “hallow” His name means to hold it in the highest regard—not just as a title, but as a reflection of who He is. His name reveals His character—He is our Righteousness, our Healer, our Shepherd, our Peace.
In moments of fear, confusion, or weariness, His name becomes more than a word—it becomes a refuge. Like a strong tower that offers protection and stability, the very mention of His name can shift our perspective and restore our confidence.
But honoring His name goes beyond saying the right words. It’s about the posture of our hearts. It’s how we live, speak, worship, and trust. When we treat His name as sacred—when we refuse to let it become routine or casual—we draw closer to the holiness and beauty of who He truly is.
Respond to God’s Word:
Pause today and reflect on the name of Jesus. He is your Peace in chaos. He is your Provider in times of need. He is your Shepherd in confusion. Call on His name, and let reverence rise in your heart again.
About this Plan

Sometimes we don’t think we can learn anything else from something in particular because we’re so familiar with it. The disciples of Jesus were familiar with prayer. They must have heard countless people pray in their life. But when they saw Jesus praying, they were teachable enough to ask him, “Lord, teach us to pray.” Sometimes thinking you have it all figured out will keep you from truly figuring it out. Step into this prayer with a receptive heart and see how God brings you to a fuller understanding of His teaching.
