From values to virtues.

Lots of people speak of values. We can put them on the wall, mention them in the prayers, or write them all down in the church congregation statute. Still, true power is not in the values declared but is when they become the lifestyle. These are virtues, implemented values that can be seen, sensed, and lived through.

Christianity is not just some proper system of beliefs, but a transformation of the heart revealed in relations. If our close ones do not experience good from our relations with God, then that is an alarming signal. God is a source of love, and if we are connected to Him, that love must flow forward into our families, communities, and relationships.

For the next couple of days, we’ll be considering the five virtues of God’s Kingdom, i.e. humanity, hospitality, safety, empathy, and interaction. It is through these five we become the bearers of God’s plan for this world.

Questions to ask yourself:

• Are the things I believe in seen in the way that I live?
• What values of my life have become virtues?

Prayer:

Oh, God, help me not only believe in the Truth, but also to live the way that others would feel Your love through me.
