Your Marriage Can Point Them to Jesus

At the end of the day, our greatest calling as parents isn’t just to raise well-behaved or successful kids—it’s to raise godly ones. One of the most powerful ways to lead them to Jesus is through the way we love each other in marriage.

Your kids are watching how you show grace, serve one another, sacrifice, and stick together even when it’s hard. Every moment of humility, patience, and unconditional love you show your spouse is a living example of Christ’s love for His church.

Ephesians 5 paints a beautiful picture of this, urging husbands and wives to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. It’s a relationship of mutual honor, sacrifice, and love—when your children witness that kind of marriage, they see a glimpse of the gospel in action.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Your home can be that light. Your marriage can be the place where your children first see what it means to live a life surrendered to Christ.

Joshua 24:15 declares, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” That kind of legacy begins in how you love each other—day in and day out. Through joy and sorrow, conflict and calm, your faithfulness to one another becomes a powerful testimony to your children of who Jesus is. Your home can be a light or a place of darkness. Both will serve a purpose, but only one of those purposes will point your children to Jesus instead of sending them running away from him. Don’t underestimate the beautiful God-given power and influence your marriage holds. Loving one another well is genuinely one of the best gifts you can give your children.
