Winter Warm-Up Sample

"Then Peter said, 'Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.'” - Acts 3:6 (NIV)
In this passage we see Peter and John showing you and I how simple it is to walk with power of Jesus Christ.
I think we can often be intimidated by even just the thought of praying for someone to be healed. I know for me it is a scary prospect. Am I going to say the right thing? Am I allowed to do this? This is scary!
The truth is this scripture shows us it doesn’t need to be complicated. Peters’ prayer is simply “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
I remember praying for healing of a friend’s health, I was so nervous. I thought I would say the wrong thing. Although there was no miraculous healing in that moment, that friend knew that I genuinely cared about them as a person.
So take confidence from this passage; it doesn’t need to be perfect, it’s your faith that’s important. Jesus actually tells us not to use "empty phrases” as your Father knows what you need before you ask him (Matthew 6:7-8).
Prayer:
God, I pray that You would give us the confidence to pray for others. Help us to have the faith to pray for others, and we thank You that it can be as simple as asking in Your name. Amen.
