Yeast is a relatively small ingredient when it comes to making bread. Compared to the flour in the mixture, before baking, it doesn’t seem like much at all. But the impact of a little bit of yeast is phenomenal. It is the quintessential “a little bit goes a long way”. It gets folded into the flour and water to create the dough, and when you have the right amount, it infiltrates all the way through, ensuring that it rises. You don’t need a lot of it to make an impact.

That’s true not only for yeast in bread, but also for what we let into our hearts and minds. A little bit goes a long way. It could be a half-truth you hear from someone in your community, a movie with themes in it that makes our minds wander to unhelpful places, or a book, sermon or even Reel about Jesus where it’s mostly true but there is just that little bit that makes you think, “Oh, I don’t know about that”. It can be easy sometimes to weed out what is unhelpful. But there are other times when we allow it to get mixed in. And, when mixed through, it is very hard to disentangle what is true and good and right, and what isn’t.

Feasting is not just for physical food, but also for spiritual food. Feasting on the word of God, a saturation of His words will always ensure that the wrong, unhelpful and incorrect opinions of man do not creep in.
