Greatness: Matthew 14-20Sample

Have you ever had to cater for an event where you didn’t know how many people would be there, how hungry they might be, and on a budget that was so small you question whether it is even worth trying? I have. And let me tell you, it is stressful and seemingly impossible. And yes, I know, nothing is impossible with God, but He isn’t one to fix poor organisation.
The feeding of the 4000 is not a moment of fixing poor organisation. Rather, it is this beautiful moment of seeing Jesus care for those who are around Him. Sometimes His care is getting in there, flipping tables, freeing people from demon-possession and healing the blind — those big, life changing moments. Other times, His care for those following Him comes in the form of compassion, and ensuring that everyone gets home safe. It’s like the Jesus version of “text me when you get home!”
It was also a moment of extraordinary power. When it comes to stretching a little bit of money to feed lots of people, church small groups are the MVPs, but even they have their limits. Jesus, however, is unlimited, especially when His power is working to put His love and compassion on display — all over a simple meal that wasn’t necessarily His to provide.
That is the Jesus we serve and follow — the promised healer and provider.
Today, ponder this: Is there an everyday moment today, where you could invite in the compassion, power and love of Jesus?
