HZY | BRP Week 1 - Introduction to FaithSample

We All Fall Short, BUT…
Every one of us is a little bit like the lost son. We want to choose our own path and live our life to please ourselves instead of God.
In Isaiah 53:6 we see a word that culture doesn’t use very often. That is ‘iniquity’ which is another word for sin.
So what is sin?
Sin is just another way of describing living independent of God and in a way, making ourselves to be our own god. It is more than just a behaviour, it is a position of our heart toward God. When we reject someone, we break relationship with that person. This is essentially what we have done with God. We will look at this more in the next plan.
The Bible says in Romans 3:23 that we all fall short of God’s standard, so what does this mean?
It means that no one has ever and will ever live the perfect and sinless ‘God life’ we were created for. However, there was one Man who did, and His name is Jesus. He took on himself the full consequences and punishment for our sin, so that if we accept what Jesus did, then we can be totally restored to God.
Through Jesus, we are ‘Justified’. This means that because of Jesus, God looks at me just as if I’d never sinned.
