GOD CHOOSES NOBODIES

Do you feel foolish, weak, or lowly? Friend, I’ve got good news. You are the ideal candidate to be chosen and used by God to turn the world upside down.

One of the biggest myths says that only great people can be great and only select individuals can be used by God. This could not be further from the truth. God loves choosing those who seem underestimated and unnoticed.

I love Eugene Peterson’s The Message translation of 1 Corinthians 1:27-29:

I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”?

If you relate to any portion of this scripture, you are perfectly positioned to see the power of God move in your life. He can take your regular, mundane, and even painful life and bring peace, power, and purpose to it. He can take the parts of you that seem too broken and turn them into your greatest strengths. God does not need the best and the brightest to accomplish His work on earth.

So, what does this mean for you? The things you think disqualify you from being chosen may be the very things God is planning to use in your life.

What if the very thing you think disqualifies you from purpose is the platform God wants to use to reveal His glory through you?

What if the pain you have worked so hard to hide is the thing God wants to use to show His goodness to your friends?

What if your worst moment is God’s best moment?

What if your weakest weakness is nothing compared to God’s strength?

What if God really can use anybody to do anything? And better yet, what if that somebody isn’t just anybody? What if it’s you?

Give me a new perspective on myself, Lord—give me Your perspective. And help me to perceive and accept what You want to do with me.
