Heart for the House Sample

“When David saw them whispering, he realized what had happened. “Is the child dead?” he asked. “Yes,” they replied, “he is dead.” Then David got up from the ground, washed himself, put on lotions, and changed his clothes. He went to the Tabernacle and worshiped the Lord. After that, he returned to the palace and was served food and ate.” - 2 Samuel 12:19-20
The word "no".
We all hate that word, don’t we?
When you really want something; when you want something good, something reasonable, something important to you…”no”.
It’s enough to make you spiral.
But why? But I need it! But I don’t understand?! How we respond when God says “no” is very important, and it often shows us what our view of God is.
When God says “no” to David, he gets up, goes to the temple, and worships God. David knows that God is good. He knows that God is gracious, fair, and loving, so when God says "no", regardless of whether or not he understands why, David knows that God is worthy of worship.
When God tells you “no”, what’s your response? This week, consider your view of God. Do you believe He is good and fair and loving, even when we don’t understand the “no”?
Prayer:
Lord, help me to know Your character and to know that You are a fair God who loves me, even when I don’t get the answer I want. Help me to always respond in worship to You, because You are worthy God. Amen.

About this Plan

David was able to set the stage for Solomon to build the temple by providing the victories for Solomon to have peace in the land, provision, and a launch pad for the new season to come. There are lessons in this for us today! For our future generations to see victory, it will take us fighting the battles now, and generously supporting God's plans to come! Join us through 2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles and be inspired by how you can be setting the next generation up for victory.
