I Said Yes to Jesus: A 5-Day Journey to Take Your Next Steps in Faith by Youth Alive AustraliaSample

HE KNOWS MY NAME
Yesterday’s story was about a little boy who was rescued from the murky waters of South Bank. I have no idea what his name was.
Not only has Jesus rescued you, but He knows your name. The first part of Isaiah 49:16 says, ‘See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands’.
Another version of this scripture says He has tattooed your name on His palm.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t know anybody who has a person’s name tattooed on their body unless that person means a great deal to them.
We have several friends who tattooed their spouse’s initials on their wedding finger instead of wearing a ring. You only do that when you love someone deeply and plan to spend the rest of your life with them.
That’s how much God loves you. You mean a great deal to Him. He sees you. He knows your name. He knew you before you were born. He created you. He even knows the exact number of hairs on your head. That’s what I call commitment! He has also claimed you as His own. You belong to Him and there is nothing you could do that would change that.
Did you know that God has some different names He is known by too? I guess it’s like having a nickname. I went to school with a guy named Glen, but we all called him Henry.
God has names like Jehovah Jireh, which means ‘God provides’. Another name of God is ‘El-Roi’. It means ‘the God who sees me’. God wants you to remember that He knows your name, and He sees you. All of you. Even the parts of yourself you might hide from the world. And He still loves you so much that your name is on His hand.
PRAYER
Dear Jesus,
You created me, knowing every detail of my heart, my thoughts and my life even before I was born. I am overwhelmed by the truth that I mean so much to you. Thank you for loving me so deeply and unconditionally.
