Seeing the World With God’s Eyes

DAY 3 OF 4

Sharing What We Have with Others

Zion spent the rest of the day handing out blankets and warm cups of soup to men and women. She also met teenagers and kids—and even a few babies.

Each time, she followed her dad’s example. She looked people in the eye, smiled, and introduced herself. They talked and laughed and then she told each of them a beautiful truth: “God loves you!”

That day at the community center, Zion gave blankets and food to those who needed them. There are so many people in our communities who experience homelessness and poverty, but there are even more people in our communities, like Zion, who have the ability to help. When we take action, we make our communities stronger and give everyone the care and respect they deserve.

When we share what we have with others, it not only blesses those who receive our gifts, it blesses us too! Sharing doesn’t leave us with less—it gives us more—more love, more relationships, and more of the joy in our hearts that comes from caring for others.

What do you have that you could share with others? Your time? Your money? Clothes you have grown out of? Ask a trusted adult to help you make a plan to share what you have.

Prayer:

"Dear God, thanks for all that you have shared with us! Thank you for the beautiful example of what it means to sacrifice for those we love in the example of Jesus. Help us know how to use all of the gifts we have to share with others."

Activity:

Sharing Box

Find a small cardboard box that you are no longer using. Decorate it and label it “The Sharing Box.” Every time you think of something you have that you can share with others, write it on a piece of paper and put it in the box. Then, with your family, go through the papers and make a plan to share those things with others.

About this Plan

Seeing the World With God’s Eyes
