DAY 2 OF 6

Day 2: Galatians 2

How do you feel when you are required to work on a team? Is it comfortable or uncomfortable for you? For any team, whether in sports or business, unity is vital. That’s true in the family of God as well. In today’s devotional, Kyle looks at Galatians 2 and discusses the importance of unity and what it takes to secure and keep it.

Reflect

Historically, the Jewish community separated itself from Gentile, or non-Jewish, communities. But after Pentecost, salvation was extended to the Gentiles. So, Peter’s refusal to eat with the Gentiles undermined the gospel and threatened the church’s unity. In what ways can you relate to Peter’s actions? Have you ever distanced yourself from others in the past? If so, for what reasons?

As Kyle said, the gospel demands unity, humility, and sanctification. To what extent do you experience unity with other Christians in your life? What intentional steps could you take to experience unity with others?

In what ways do you try to emulate Jesus’s humility in your life? What are some of the areas God is sanctifying in your life today?

Respond

Our life with Christ requires intentionality. God has called us to live according to His Word—to pursue unity, walk humbly with Him and others, and let Him shape us into the likeness of Christ. But we share the same struggle as Peter—we are prone to wander and return to our former ways. We must allow God to lead us and follow Him obediently wherever He calls us to go.

Read Philippians 2:1–11. Commit to learning what it means to imitate Jesus’s humility and pursue unity in the church.

About this Plan

The Book of Galatians With Kyle Idleman: A 6-Day RightNow Media Devotional

If someone asked you to explain the gospel, what would you say? Writing to the Galatians, Paul made it clear how easily we can be tempted to turn toward fraudulent gospels, especially those that teach we can earn God’s love through our works. In this six-day devotional study, Kyle Idleman dives into the book of Galatians, one that contains some of the clearest explanations of the gospel in the New Testament. True freedom is found in surrender, not self-dependence. Because our gospel is not one based on our works, but faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
