God's heart for the lost
Jonah finally obeyed, but his heart remained resistant. He preached to Nineveh, yet instead of rejoicing when the people repented, he was angry. Jonah wanted judgement, but God wanted mercy.
What’s even more extraordinary is that Jonah’s sermon was only one sentence: ‘Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!’ (Jonah 3:4b). That was all it took for an entire city to turn to God. One anointed sentence! Sometimes, we believe we need a polished speech or the right words, but in reality, we only need to obey God. He does the rest.
Have you ever struggled to accept God’s mercy for someone you felt didn’t deserve it? Do you rejoice in His grace for others as much as you do for yourself? True obedience isn’t just about doing what God asks – it’s about aligning our hearts with His.
Prayer: Father, help me see people as You do. Fill me with Your love and compassion for the lost. Use me to speak Your truth, knowing that You are the One who changes hearts. Amen.

About this Plan

“Jonah’s story begins with a divine assignment – God calls him to Nineveh to preach repentance. But instead of obeying, Jonah runs.” (Running From God – Heidi Wysman). Is God calling you to do something scary? Maybe you’re feeling uncertain or unqualified? Be encouraged as you read about Jonah’s story and the faithfulness of God.
