Radical Relaxation: Your 5-Day Stress Release PlanSample

Your Wholeness
As an operating room nurse, I’d have to make sure that all members of the team were ready to begin a surgery before taking a patient into the operating room. Although the anesthesiologist, surgeon, surgical technician, and I all have specialized roles, we don’t work independently of one another. Each operation requires the whole team working together in harmony.
Too often, there’s an attempt to separate one’s spiritual life from their mental, physical, and emotional well-being, but God created us as holistic beings and calls us to care for our whole selves. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and what you do with it matters. Rest, movement, nourishing foods, and relaxation all contribute to your physical health. However, when stress takes hold, it disrupts the harmony of mind, body, and spirit.
Physically, stress weakens the immune system, increases inflammation, and leads to chronic conditions like high blood pressure and fatigue. Emotionally, stress can contribute to irritability, anger, and frustration. Mentally, it fuels anxiety, lack of focus, and exhaustion. Spiritually, stress can create a sense of distance from God, making it harder to hear His voice and trust in His peace. The enemy wants you to remain stuck in this cycle, believing that stress is inevitable. But God’s plan is for wholeness.
Your mind needs renewal. Negative thoughts, worry, and fear can keep you bound and stuck in cycles of stress. But with prayer, reflection, and God’s word, your mind can be renewed and transformed, and you can experience greater clarity.
And your spirit thrives when you draw close and connect to the presence of God, where true peace is found. True wellness is holistic - your mind, body, and spirit working in harmony. True relaxation comes when we trust all aspects of our being to God. Today, choose one way to nurture your whole self and reclaim the relaxation God designed you to experience.
Reflection: What is one practical way you can take better care of your mind, body, or spirit today?
Prayer: Lord, thank you for creating me as a whole being. Help me to care for my mind, body, and spirit in a way that honors you. Give me wisdom to make choices that lead to true well-being. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
