Learning to PraySample

Silence
"And there was silence in heaven for about half an hour" (Revelation 8:1).
"The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him" (Habakkuk 2:20).
There is a Field of Silence close to the Farmer’s House. It is another Field apprentices of the Kingdom will walk through.
As we approach God with gratitude and thanksgiving we should also take time to be still and silent before Him.
When we are silent before the Creator of Heaven and Earth our perspective and orientation become aligned with His, (even without us realizing this is happening).
We may be led by the Spirit into times of silence in either Individual Prayer or Corporate Prayer. This is not the silence brought on by unconfessed sin or a disobedience that has disrupted our fellowship with the Lord. This is not the silence that needs to be acknowledged and confessed before the Holy Spirit who then leads us into His Purpose for our Prayer Time. This is the silence of Holy Fear and Wonder when we sense the "constraint of the Spirit" and the only possible behavior in the Heavenly Court is the quiet and awesome Holy Fear and Wonder in silence.
There are times when the trauma of life, its hurt and frustration, and angst so trouble us that our greatest need is to simply be still in our Father’s Presence.
Few words if any are needed in these moments. God is God and is already more aware of our situation and our true needs than we shall ever be (Matthew 6:8). To sit in silence before the Lord of Heaven and Earth is itself the richest and fullest discourse we could have. And when we rise from such Times of Prayer we know in our souls and spirits that everything that needed to be said has already been heard and understood by our Father in the Heavens - the One who made us, who loves us, and who will fulfill His Purposes for us.

About this Plan

The many, many different forms of Prayer are like Fields on a large Farm. You and I are like a farmer living in the center of the Farm. As we pray we move from Field to Field, from one type of Prayer to another. We go into some Fields every day, others only occasionally. Come and join us in this Devotion as we explore what that might look like as we learn to pray together.
