Attributes of God on F.I.R.E.Sample

Attribute #2: Goodness
You are good, and do good (Psalm 119:68).
The Lord modeled His goodness at creation. Six times the Almighty acknowledges that “it was good”. On the sixth day when creation had been completed, Moses records, “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good” (Genesis 1:31).
God’s goodness is also seen in His provision for humanity. In Acts 14:17, the apostolic team of Barnabas and Paul proclaimed the goodness of God as follows: He provides nourishment to the earth from rain leading to food, and “filling our hearts with food and gladness.” These acts of sustenance are daily witnesses to His care.
Furthermore, God’s goodness is evident in His gifts of salvation, forgiveness, and worship. Salvation is a gift that reconciles us to God (Romans 2:4), while forgiveness underscores His patience and mercy (Psalm 86:5). Spiritually maturing saints recognize the importance of maintaining fellowship with the Father and Son through the gift of forgiveness (1 John 1:9). Worship enables us to respond to God’s goodness with gratitude and praise, acknowledging His eternal mercy and truth (Psalm 100:3-5).
Even during trials, God’s goodness remains unchanging, as seen in the account of Joseph who suffered much at the hands of his brothers. Joseph’s statement to his brothers in Genesis 50:20, reminds us to trust God’s higher purpose. By faith we must trust the very nature of a good God “that all things work together for good to those who love God” (Romans 8:28).
Employment Point: Contemplate the goodness of God.
