EquipHer Vol. 19: "5 Biblical Building Blocks for Business Leaders"Sample

Day 5 – Don’t Forget to Celebrate
How many times do you get so caught up in your work and your projects that you forget to pause and celebrate the progress you’ve already made? Maybe you think celebrating is a luxury or worry it’s a waste of valuable time. But we need to remember that God loves when we take moments to celebrate what He’s doing in our lives. This is exactly what the book of Nehemiah teaches us.
In the Bible, celebration has always been a key part of the lives of God's people. There are festivals established by God Himself to remember significant moments—like Passover, celebrating freedom from Egypt, or Purim, commemorating deliverance during Esther's time. Even Nehemiah, after completing the walls of Jerusalem, chose to celebrate with all the people. And it wasn’t a small celebration—over 50,000 people joined this moment of joy and gratitude for what God had accomplished (Nehemiah 7:66–8:18).
Think about this: although the walls were built in just 52 days, the entire project—including restoring and rebuilding the temple—took over twelve years. After such a long and challenging process, Nehemiah didn’t rush on to the next thing. Together with Ezra the priest, he paused the people and declared that day holy, inviting everyone to rejoice and remember that “the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10).
It’s essential for us to learn to pause and celebrate as well. Why is this so important? Because celebrating reminds us of God’s faithfulness, strengthens our gratitude, and motivates us to move forward with renewed confidence. Imagine what would happen if you celebrated every small milestone along your journey: finalizing your logo, launching your website, signing your first contract, getting a proposal approved. These moments of celebration don’t just boost your faith—they also help keep your passion alive and your motivation high as you continue moving forward.
If you’re waiting for everything to be “perfect” before you celebrate, you risk never celebrating at all. God-sized dreams take time—often much longer than we imagine. That’s precisely why celebrating along the way is so important. So don’t wait: celebrate today! Find even a small reason, and thank God for what He’s already done, knowing with certainty that He’ll continue to do even more.
Reflection Questions:
- What small steps or achievements can you celebrate today on your journey?
- In the past, have you forgotten to celebrate? How did that affect your enthusiasm and motivation?
Practical Tip: Create a simple personal or workplace tradition to celebrate each milestone. It could be as easy as dinner with friends or colleagues, a special moment of prayer, or a restful pause to thank God for how far you’ve already come.
Prayer: Lord, today I choose to pause and celebrate what You’ve already done in my life and my project. Help me maintain a grateful heart and teach me to recognize every milestone along the way. I want to rejoice as I celebrate Your faithfulness, knowing that each step forward is a testimony of Your love and provision. Amen.
