Satan, You Can’t Rule My Emotions

DAY 2 OF 4

Three Roots That Cause Inner Wounds

Inner wounds can stem from various sources, often going unnoticed until they manifest in emotional pain or broken relationships.

Understanding the origins of these wounds is essential for finding healing and freedom. Whether inflicted by our own thoughts, the enemy’s schemes, or even God’s discipline for our benefit, identifying these roots is the first step in allowing God’s love and power to bring restoration.

Root #1: People can wound themselves.

Suffice it to say that some people are extremely sensitive, feel unloved, or wallow in self-pity, which leaves them emotionally wounded. Start undoing your afflictions by boldly declaring God’s Word, for God is telling you, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” You can boldly say, “The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me” (Heb. 13:5–6, KJV).

Also, start declaring, believing, and personalizing Psalm 91. The Word of God you start believing and boldly declaring will set you free.

Root #2: Satan, the enemy of our soul, can inflict wounds.

Since he is out to destroy God’s kingdom, he delights in afflicting God’s people. Christians must learn to be wise to him and the cunning ways he tries to destroy God’s people. If you want to live free, you must learn to resist the enemy’s temptations and war against him with God’s Word and prayer. But first, you must surrender your thoughts to Christ’s thoughts in prayer. You will start noticing a positive change in your wrong patterns of thinking and attitudes. A renewed mind is capable of transforming a person. (See Romans 12:2; 2 Timothy 1:7; Ephesians 4:23; 1 Corinthians 2:16).

Root #3: Believe it or not, wounds can be inflicted by the Lord.

A better way to say this is that He chastises those who need it, like a father punishes a child who is going in the wrong way. If that father truly loves his son, he will chastise him. The wounds He inflicts are “faithful” (Prov. 27:6). They can put us on the right track again.
